" On lighter note, when I entered Dole's office and waited

for my appointment, the Dole family dog " Leader " jumped up on the

couch next to me and gave me an Eskimo kiss on the nose. Then 3 men

entered the waiting area in suits and one of the men was calling the

dog over to pet it and the dog did not go over. The man said

sarcastically, " I guess that dog has good taste! " I responded, " I

guess so...he just came up and nuzzled with me. He must know I come

for a good cause. " I was holding some visual props and it

was obvious that I was defending our children's rights. "

So you had the chance to sit with Leader II to present our issues?!

If he follows in Leader I's footsteps you may have found an ear (and

a tail)

" if elected First Dog, Leader's promise was " to work day and night,

except for naps, to show the world that I am more than just a furry

face. "

Tricia you are our hero, a voice for our children! It

sounds to me through our discussion last night that children with

communication impairments were not considered prior...until you pointed the

problems of ignoring them out. It's also great to know that you

brought more letters to support our children than anyone else there

with you meeting with the Senators -together we really made a difference!

Thank you Tricia!!!

(do we send a thank you letter to Leader Dole II... or a doggie

bone?)

Fellow Warriors!

Let me begin by saying that you all are just wonderful. I received 162

letters to take to me to the Senate!! Please know that EVERY LETTER was

hand-carried to the right senator. More importantly, for many of my

meetings letters were being read while I was still in the offices. I was

thanked over and over for expressing my opinions and for bringing letters

from their constituents.

The other theme through all my meetings was that the Senate offices received

*tons* of calls on call-in day. GREAT JOB GUYS. Honestly, I was so caught

up in my meetings that I forgot about call-in day. At the end of my first

meeting I asked, " So what do you think is going to happen with this

legislation? " I was told that they were *inundated* with calls opposing S.

1248. They were non-committal on my original question but I was glad they

volunteered info about the calls!

For the most part, the meetings went well and our children were heard. I

don't know how the vote will go but at least we did our best to give input.

We have to hope that the input will somehow improve the outcomes for our

children. I had visual props that I carried all over the 3 senate buildings

that brought awareness to our children to every one that passed in

elevators, halls, etc. I was so proud to be representing such a worthy

cause!

must know I come for a good cause. " I was holding some visual props and it

was obvious that I was defending our children's rights.

I was so proud to be representing communication-impaired children as well as

all disabled children being served under IDEA. I want to thank all of you

for your support. As for
