Janie-- my lab work showed my TSH was at 3.38, the past doc had only ran the

TSH, so with my syptoms(lethergy, weight gain, depreesion, thin hair...), i

guess this doc decided i would benefit from t3. he ran all the other thyriod

tests, i will get those in 2 weeks. He told me that the t3 was a " trial " basis

and he wanted to see how i responded to it. I asked him what to expect, and

he didnt tell me because he didnt want to jinx me, he wantd me to tell him how

it made me feel.. well, so far, i havent felt any different. but, thats only

on 5 mg. so, hopefuuly in the next 2 weeks i will know much more depending

on my labs. I am thinking of taking 2 5 mg tabs tomorrow and seeing if that

makes a difference. . . '

thansk for the info on t3, i will kwwp you all updated!

Janie-- iam back again! wanted to expand on my syptoms and see what you

thought. In the past 3 years ive gained 85 pounds, gone through about 5

different

depression meds, had thining hair, irregular menstral cycle(no periods for

the last 6 months), and extreme fatigue( i can sleep up to 12-14 hrs a night).

I just recently quit my job because I couldnt seem to get up in the morning

anymore....

I also found some labs that I had done last month, my DHEA was 102 (nor is

62-615)

TSH was 3.38

Total t3 was 195 (norm 60-181)

Total t4 8.7 (4.5-12.0)

the Doc is also working me up for insulin resistance. but iam wondering

maybe adrenal fatigue?? I dont think he is nessecarily up on the " new "

guidelines

for TSH levels which bothers me, but he did put me on the T3 which is good.

I don't know, what do you think? I just want to feel better!!!

Thanks so much--

,

5mcg. wouldn't do much in my opinion. I take 25 mcg. Divided throughout the

day, and another 21/2 grains of armour! And I finally feel great!

Interesting your doc wanted to start with T3..don't hear that very often.

The blood work shouldn't take 2 weeks should it?

Good luck on this journey!

Hi!

I just had an appt with an endo today(new Doc), and he put me on

cytomel 5mg. I wanted to get everyones experience with it, I think 5

mg seems a bit low, he said he wanted me try it for a month and see

how I do. I am not on any other thyriod drugs, he is testing me for

insulin resistance too. I am hoping this will give me more energy

and help me loose weight, but i am wondering if 5mg is enogh to do

anything.

I see him in 2 weeks to get the rest of my blood work.
