Guest guest
My own physician suggested I use amytriptyline (elavil) instead of benadryl for sleep problems, because the kind of sleep you get with it is better than with the benadryl. Guest guest
One word of advice when it comes to amytriptyline -- it can cause SEVERE dry mouth and increased thirst. When on this medication, it is very important to pay attention to how hydrated your mouth is. In talking with my pharmacist and my dentist, I've learned that it was likely the cause of several small surface cavities, when I hadn't had much in the way of cavities before that point. Both recommended drinking small amounts of fluid frequently and chewing sugar-free gum to keep the mouth moist. Guest guest
Rita, That is pretty awful. My husband goes to sleep the moment his head hits the pillow, and I go to sleep, but then wake up, so I just get up and check my e-mail :-) Eventually, I get tired enough to go to sleep, but I may only get 4 hours of sleep. Sandy --------------------- l take 2 ..25 mg..benadryl capsules before bed... works like a charm... better than being awake most of the nite
