Sheesh, did I suffer another senior moment when I looked? Probably. Now all I need to do is remember how much of it is good to take on a daily basis and figure out how many bottles of the stuff I'd need. I'm seriously considering asking people for supplements for Christmas presents this year. Um, but then only my two daughters and I exchange and we've agreed on a $25 limit. Oh well. I just tried searching CoQ10 in the archives but unfortunately most of what came up was cappie's stuff 'cause she lists that in her sig as one of the things she takes. Well, I'll go look through books and try to remember how much I'd need to take. sky
Guest guest
I take 100 mg of coQ10 each day at bedtime when I take my lipitor 10 mg. I've seen various recommendations from 30 mg to 100 mg depending on what you want it to do. Since I have heart disease coming at me from every direction in my family, I err on a slightly higher side. And since lipitor is a coQ10 antagonist, I take it for that as well. As an aside, a benefit I wasn't aware of has cropped up in my life, and that's coQ10's effect on the health of my gums. My dentist and hygienist were staggered by the improvement in my gum health when I saw them in August (compared to a prior visit in February). At the time, I didn't know that the coQ10 helped gums, and had no real explanation for the improvement - I've always been a brusher/flosser, etc. It was only later in looking at some studies on coQ10 that I found that it helps gum health. Now. I also know that bad gums are sometimes related to heart disease. Might have to do with the infections that sometimes come up from gum disease. And I also know that diabetics sometimes have gum health issues when BG control isn't so great. So, even though coQ10 is kind of expensive, I feel strongly about taking it and have now gotten my mother on it and am trying to get my uncle on it. If it's not in gel form, it's best to take it with meal that has fat in it or take it with another supplement that has oil/fat in it -- like a vitamin e or evening primrose.
