Guest guest
Hello Vicki, Well i divided it by 18 and it comes out about 6.3, but around 6.3 sounds about right to me so i will aim for that. Errrm we don't have the access to our medical records / Lab reports as the U.S people do so that is not possible. (I'll grab the nearest diabetes specialist i come across to check though)thank you for your help Darren. > A nondiabetic ( " normal " ) person will usually run BGs between about 80 > and 115. > To get your number multiply by 18. > > To avoid diabetic complications, you should find out what your lab > normal is (All labs have different normals.) You should get copies of > all your lab reports, and it should be on there. Whatever your lab > normal is (i.e. nondiabetic) , that's what to aim for. > Vicki

I have been having high bg and i also have high ketones (8.0), my bg's are in your American units 468 (about 26.0 here). Thank you Darren. Darren, Normal non-diabetic " fasting bg's " are 70-110mg/dl (US). Depending what reference you use, those #'s can vary by 5-10mg/dl, but " non-diabetic " is definitely under 115mg/dl. Your bg's are very, very high, and coupled with your high ketones, likely are in the " dangerous " range. High bg's with high ketones are something called " ketoacidosis " , and it's very serious. You should see your Dr immediately if you maintain these levels, or even get to an ER. Ketoacidosis can be fatal & is in a large percentage of cases, so please get medical attention ASAP. , T2, diag 4/98, control with LC, average bg 100mg/dl, last HbA1c 6.0%
Guest guest
HELLO ALL, I just wanted to let you all know what is going on with my BG's since my last visit to the doctor and he upped the Avandia..my BG been running anywhere from 140 to 200 and that is before eating anything at all. The doctor told me that if I cannot get close to 110 ot lower that he will put me on addtional medications what kind I don't know I do go see my doctor next Thursday..I will show him my BG's and we will go from there. As far as eating to be honest I'm eating anything I want but I have cut out breads, rice, pototoes, etc the white foods. The doctor is aware of my eating habits I have a notebook here where I write down what I eat and how often...I spread my meals out now. Someone told me that I needed to learn how to count carbs etc but this might prove a problem because I have a hard time just counting money let alone carbs..i have a learning disability in math. The dietican I see knows that I'M EATING better and see that I'm really trying hard to manage my BG's. I'm eating fresh veggies more than meats I have cut meats down to 3 times a week now better than 7 days a week. I know that my way is not the best way but I'm still learning how and what is best in my plan of treatment. Guest guest
Hey Patti, Good for you! I applaud you in your determination to make changes as you can and as you see will help you. As to being math challenged, so am I-- and I know that there is a good carb-counting book to help those of us who are so challenged. I have a copy of it, but it's dark in the house now and I don't want to turn on lights and wake up my husband. So later when it gets light, I'll find the book and post info on it here for you. Okay? And listen, in diabetes there is no one best/right way. It's truly YMMV all the way. Sounds to me like you're doing a great job. Hats off to you! hugs, Bron
