Welcome Robin,

You sound like you've been through a lot with the diet and what happened to

you along the way. Don't give up, you can do it!!! I am giving myself the

same advice too, cause I am not feeling too good right now, but I know I just

need to give it more time and more dedication into what I am trying to loose!!

Welcome to the list Robin!!!

I'm Robin and I've been on the Atkins WOE for alittle over a year. I

have some good info to share, and also am often in need of info and

support from other Atkins dieters. I do have to often times go to

no-mail, unless the volume on the list is low, due to a demanding

work/social schedule - but will always go back to regular mail as time

permits. I had lost 51 pounds on Atkins and was 19 from goal. Then I

had major foot surgery, was incapcitated for 2 months, but low-carbed

all the way through it and never gained an ounce. Then I had to start

massive cortisone treatments (new tumor) and gained 24 pounds seemingly

overnight. The first 14 was from the cortisone shots and meds, the next

10 was from my own frustration, binging and not drinking my water. Now

I really am back at it full bore! I want to get at least 20 off by the

end of September. I started strict induction and even some exercise

(Body Flex tapes) which is a BIG sacrifice to me! LOL!! I have lost 6

of the 24 pounds since Thursday - have been getting all my water in.

Welcome lena,

I think you will do great! Maybe you might try to introduce at least poultry

to your body!

You may be pleasantly surprised. But if not I know you will think up ways to

get your protein.

Thanks Gail,

I'll try reducing caffeine by 1/2 C. intervals. It sounds less painful!

Robin, I try to drink at least 70-80 oz of water a day!

I find that it does help me to lose.

Robin,

Have you tried the flavored water. I got some yeterday from Wal-Mart. I like

the strawberry and the kiwi-strawberry flavors. They are great to use when

you need a change.

I wish I could only drink that much! I have to drink 100-120 oz daily

to keep losing. I get very sick of it from time to time and just can't

get motivated to drink it. Right now I'm going through a good stage

where I'm getting it down. I went back on induction Thursday and have

lost six pounds during this time, but I think it's because I started

drinking all my water again.

Robin,

Do you think you can't lose while drinking these flavored waters because of

the artificial sweetner in them. That is awful!! They taste so good and are a

good break from regular H2O sometimes.

If you mean those yummy ones, like Peach Melba ,etc from Walmart I love

them. I also find that I don't lose weight if I substitute them.....:-(

Gail -

thanks for the caffeine advice. I woke up today headache free...but if it

returns, I think that I just may take your advice cuz I don't like feeling

grouchy when I otherwise am elated to be on Atkins!

Sorry this is kinda gross.. but.. the drinking a lot of water also helps with

people who have a little constipation during the beginning of your induction

diet..... not all have it.. hubby did.. I haven't .. but I drink oodles of

water.. OK that was way too much info!! rofl

Jen - I find the support of a great group of friends on a great mailing

list is extremely important for our success! There's strength in

numbers, plus there are things that aren't always in the book that we've

learned along the way from other more experienced low-carbers. Like the

water thing. I tried low-carb lots of times in the past, never with

much success past the first week or so. At first I'd lose, then the

loss would stop, and after a few weeks I'd get frustrated and quit. I

didn't know about the water 'requirement' and thusly did not continue to

lose weight. If I ever did know about the water thingy, I didn't

believe it! I believe it now! Do the rest of you find that you lose

better with the old massive water requirement?

I am not really sure how much I drink, but I do know that thanks to Sues idea

about the crystal light slush, I can't stand the taste of diet coke

anymore!!! I traded one nutrisweet product for another!!! Plus the small

amount of calories too, but these slushes really keep me away from something

sweet I am not supposed tohave. Ok, got to be honest though, I did slip up

last week with the icecream. Was it worth it? NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:)
