Guest guest
Hi My name is Zera and I hope you can help me. I'm 40 and have been on Synthroid for about 15 years. After being on a doseage of .125 for many years my blood tests indicated (back in September) I needed to be on a higher dose so I was bumped up to .150. Another blood test the following January (this year) indicated the doseage needed to be increased again to .175. I'm still at.150 since none of the doctors can tell me why I'm increasing doseages at such a rapid rate. By the way the reason I went to 4 doctors since September is due to major fatigue in addition to: always warm tho I have a low temperature, shedding hair, scary heart palpitations, feeling I wouldn't be able to handle a crisis-have to reserves, no sex drive, heavy heavy menstrual flow (can you say vinyl underwear) sores on scalp, cannot sleep/insomnia, in the a.m. I CANNOT get out of bed - SO tired all the time but by the time it's time to go to be I'm wired, major brain fog, completely unmotivated/apathy, very irritable, temporary head pounding and pressure like after a strenuous workout without the workout. I don't think Synthroid is working for me anymore and I want to try Armour. The doctor I am seeing Mondy is listed on the Armour website (yay) - maybe I'll finally get someone to listen to me. Aside from the Armour what else do I need to bring up? What questions to ask, what tests should be done? Sorry so long - Thanx so much

Guest guest
Hi Zeraslair. I want you to be prepared for the fact that you don't have a great doc. A great doc would test your free T3, not just your free T4. T4 is a storage hormone!! T3 is the active hormone. To only test what is in storage is inadequate....and typical of many poorly trained docs. And to be putting you on Synthroid is backwards treatment. Yes, you need Armour!! You can save yourself years of problems by NOT getting on Synthroid or any other T4-only med. We know. We've been there, done that. This is one area where you can actually trust patients like us rather than docs!! They simply don't know what they are doing. Janie I> > Finally got results of my last blood test.
