They treated me with an antiviral med. and Gingko Biloba capsules. They aren't positive, but they say it is caused by the same herpes virus that causes shingles and chicken pox, etc. At any rate, mine was gone in six weeks. It can come back, but so far I have had no recurrences. I do still have some residual numbness in my lower lip, but that's all. The rest of the symptoms are gone.
