Guest guest
The Carn-aware is one product but is expensive for some to buy as a all in one product. We started with food first with the PECS. I found in a teaching store pictures for the food groups and started with that since that is one of Sedona's favorite things to do Eat. We also found a pyramid chart that was a rainbow of colors and hung it on the wall. Then when she wanted something we made her find the correct picture before she was given it. We also locked the Fridge so that she could not help herself. Once we found that she could find the correct food we started to give her the name for it. She was then expected to give some kind of response for the picture. When she got those down we then moved to toys, house items and then school ones. She now says I want _____ Please " after 8 months of speech at home. She is talking well and I am really pleased with her Progress. She seems to get more out of it when she is expected to work. I suggest that you once again change and find a SP that will expect her to work. Do you use a token board?? 5 pictures and then a break?? We use 5 Santa's then she gets an apple or a toy to play with for a short time as a reward. She must earn the 5 Santa's to get the reward. Some times it is hard to get those Santa's but we do get them. You need a team that is consistent with what they do and expect. We found that out the hard way and found that if you let one person get away with not working with her then she expects to not have to work with the rest. We had a Rehab spec. come and not do a thing and now Sedona doesn't want to work for any of them and we are back to using the car seat at the table for restraint. We got our PECS from www.mayerjohnson.com They are 69 a box but they are hard plastic and easy to use. We got both 1 and 2 sets and paid 129. They are colored on one side and black and white on the other. I sent info on Carn-aware to the sight. If you can't find it write to me directly and I will get it to you. chipperdona@... There are no side effects that we have seen. Some people say that their children are hyper at first but then it goes away over time. It has no drug interactions with supplements either. It can't hurt to try it , it is just vitamins. Good luck and keep in touch, PS. Do you have a name??
