Guest guest
Yes, we've been using them for years with Brett. He got his first pair when he was 2. We went for about a year without them, when we switched from EI to the school system, where he wasn't getting PT (another long horror story, but he's getting PT now). I think they have definitely helped him. He has fairly flat feet, and he tends to walk on the inside of his feet. To compensate, he turns his toes out, which results in a strange gait. The inserts have helped him walk straighter, which also strengthened his ankles. During the time he wasn't wearing them, I noticed that he was walking kind of strange again - not as steady, and walking on the insides again. Especially since they're fairly inexpensive (at least compared to almost everything else we do!), I would definitely recommend them if your child has balance issues or an abnormal gait. HTH! Mommy to Brett - Apraxia, DSI, Hypotonia - and going great!!!

We have used them for about a year and they did seem to help with balance but my son has started pronating his feet more so we have just had to switch to Cascade DAFO 5.5 that supports the side of the foot more but is still foam worn inside the shoe. The DAFO costs $426 for both feet so trying out the hot dog/ patti bob type products first seems like a good idea We get PT evaluations about every 6 months to make sure all is working well as the walking funny was starting to put stress on my sons lower back and as he grows things seem to change. Guest guest
We have used hotdogs and found it to help with the " no arches " our son had. It wasn't a huge change but enough that I keep ordering them and replacing in his new shoes. Daphne
