Guest guest
We've used something similar for the girls. When I was pregnant with Hope and came out with thier lavendar bath wash and we used that. Hope had reflux when she was little and nights were terrible for her, but that bath wash helped relax her a little so she would go to sleep. Faith was terribly colicy and it helped her as well. Now we use a bath wash with tea tree oil in it, and use the lavendar bath occasionally. Hope will go through cycles of night terrors where she'll have them every night for weeks, then they'll stop and resurface later. After a night or two of them, she starts fighting going to sleep. those nights after a lavendar bath, I break out the lavendar lotion and give her a little massage too. She loves having her back rubbed, and it usually gets her ready to drop off. I mean as someone already said, lavender and chamomile have been used for centuries to calm, relax and even relieve pain. They haven't invented anything and I would be hesitant to use a spray in this way because it might be inhaled by my child. One other thought - if you are concerned about using mists, this bath soap/bubble bath has helped bedtime tremendously! Luke is also high-functioning autistic so bedtime is a nightmare...pun intended. LOL Not that he has nightmares but that he fights sleep something horrible. Anyway, you can make this yourself and even if money isn't an issue you can be SURE what is in this because you make it yourself. :-) It eases my mind somewhat to know POSITIVELY what is in a product that I put on or in my children! :-) http://www.breathingroom.faithweb.com/mother.html Scroll down to the middle of the page - it's the one called " Lavender Bubble Bath " . We use it as liquid soap though you can use it as directed too. Hope this helps someone - we love it. http:\\www.breathingroom.faithweb.com Resources & Refreshment For Homeschool Moms! Guest guest
I have to say I think it was the lavendar. I keep a bottle of lavendar mist in my car (Healing Garden product) and, when the heater or air conditioner is on I spray so the mist is carried throughout the car. It certainly calms me but I also find that Josh is quite different when the lavendar is fresh in the car. He gets so upset he takes his seatbelt off or knocks his head back and forth against the side guards. And I had an aromatherapy lavender spray in the house that somebody had given me....so today I sprayed it in the car, towards the ceiling, when he started to melt down. I don't know whether it was the distraction or what, or whether it worked rather like the citronella bark collars do on my dogs (if you will excuse the comparison--the lemony spray is an aversive stimulus in that case), but he did stop crying. Even smiled at me. It worked several times, too. Peace, Kathy E.
