Guest guest
Mcdonalds (like) hamburgers made at home: 80/20 to 93/7% hamburger kneaded well (as if making meatballs or meatloaf) with a dash of salt, pepper, and worcester sause; then pressed, sized and shaped perfectly by hand or with a jar lid; cook in frying pan at med-low heat as to not over brown the meat but cook thoroughly (can also add small amout of water for frying), turning and pressing down burger with spatula several times (not enough to miss-shape burger; top with a dill pickle slice or two, ketchup, and mustard; Place on a Wonderbread bun , lightly toasted and spead sparingly with jared chopped onions (optional). Kraft delux american cheese can be added for those who prefer cheeseburgers. My daughter, who only liked Mcdonald's hamburgers loved them, and atleast I knew what was in them! ....It's amazing what some of us will do to get our kids to eat! Guest guest
As I've posted before I take my kids to Mc 's or Burger King or 's etc. once in awhile. My trick however is that when I get a Happy Meal for Tanner I remove most of the fries before I even give him the bag. He wouldn't notice anyway because both of my boys care more about the toy -so it's been easy. I let Dakota eat whatever he wants. Not sure why -but just instinct that Tanner shouldn't eat that many of the fries. When you go to Animal Kingdom on the ride called Dinosaur -it was sponsored by Mc's -and it's a really cool ride even though it has nothing to do with french fries...except they sell them right outside the ride. Kathleen have you taken your grandson to DinoLand? -I know you live in Florida too! The hamburger itself I don't care about my boys eating here or there. And it was cool to learn that if we wanted to we 'could' make them at home. (but wouldn't work for me because for my boys I'd also have to make the toy too which is what they care more about -and even though I used to design toys -that's just way too much work for a fast food meal!) (See now I thought the reason your grandson calls Mc 's " no no no no " was because whenever he pointed to Mc s he heard " No " and thought that was what it was called!) =====
Guest guest
Thanks everyone for your supportive replies and for the recipe for " McD " type hamburgers. I'll have to try that one. Guest guest
Funny! My son Nick says, " EEE UCK " when we see Mcs! While Nick had diarrhea a year or so ago the doc said to give him Mcs french fries (good instincts because in little guys the combo of fat and carb slows the intestinal track - the opposite affect on us larger people!) During one of those french fries purchasing trips I ate a burger and got food poisoning. I lost 7 pounds in three days and was ill, ill, ill! After watching his mom being so ill after eating a burger at Macs, Nick thinks that Mcs hurts your tummy! He will still on occassion ask for FF's though!
