Guest guest
Marie, My dd has severe apraxia also along with some other FUN stuff (dysarthria, dyspraxia and DSI) but that did not get in her way because she did it when she was ready to, my dd is very bull headed and she is very tough to get her to do things that she does not want to do. She did NOT imitate the SLP this past summer (Easterseals) but when we took her to an SLP that dealt with sensory issues and just plain patience with her, she did finally imitate. My dd now goes to an SLP that only works with Apraxia cases and she is very structured and does wonderful imitating, but I noticed that she does not attempt to blow that much any more, I think it is just plain stubbornness, if you ask me. lol Hope this helps, Traci
Guest guest
Traci , Your post just makes me realize this whole progress thing is alot on their timeframe !! We as parents just want so badly for them to talk , blow etc.. we forget that they are going to do it when THEY want too !!! And it also takes ALOT of patience ... Thanks so much , Marie
