Hi Sam,

I had the same problem with my pain doctor. He wanted to focus on what he calls "Failed Back Surgery Syndrome." And ignored the RSD. However, I had surgery that made my back better than it was in years and the RSD was not liking being ignored so it was going on a rampage. This doctor only believes that you can have RSD in the limbs but it is now on my record that other doctors say it is in my chest, gall bladder, back and full body. Unfortunately I don't have a choice in doctors right now but am trying to replace him with a doctor that is smarter about RSD.

Unless your sister is liscenced to practice medicine I wouldn't really give her much notice. Except that you might ask her how she arrived at this diagnosis?

You need a pain management doctor, whether or not you have RSD, if you have had multiple back surgeries and this is causing your pain you need it to be managed.

What is it with these pain doctors, I don't know Felice if you read this but he was sure I had RSD, but when I didn't get complete pain relief from the block he said that there was no way that I had it. Fortunetly my doctor who has been treating me for about 5 months is very knowledgeble and he is convinced that I do indeed have and he is going to get me into water therapy with whirpool, anybody have any sucess with this? Anyway the pain doctor doesn't want to do the bier block, but my doctor is going to call him and tell him that I did have good results, he was very pleased the relief I got, he was thinking I wasn't going to have much relief at all, anyway got sidetracked again he is going to tell him that he IS going to do the block. I have found out that my doctor is very respected in the area.

Well I hope you all have a good day, and may your pain be less,

, water therapy was great for and helped her be able to walk again. But if I recall correctly Kathy wrote that she had to turn off the whirpool or what ever it is that shoots the water out and usually feels good. Think it hurt her rsd with that pressure on the rsd. So might take that part slowly until you find out if it is painful. Surely others on here will know more but don't want you to get hurt by any water pulsating at rate that might hurt. Just hope you find the water as beneficial as did. Will be praying for you.

JoAnn, Thanks for the info, I can understand about the pressure hurting I can't even wear my jeans right now because they just hurt my left leg too much. So I wear dress pants, or dresses.

Warm water therapy helped me a lot! Just couldn't use the jets or bubbles, the doctor at the time put on the prescription NO JETS, the pressure against my body was too much, the main therapist insisted they be turned on and she undid in less than a minute's time all the relief I got after 45 minutes. It did take me several trips to be able to get all the way into the pool, this one reminded me of a dunk tank you see at carnivals, etc.

We purchased our own healing spa in the fall and it has helped a lot.

Good luck to you.

Hoping for Pain Free Days,Sandi
