Hi there . Cytomel is T3-only. T3 is a great med to be on---it's

the thyroid hormone that is reponsible for great energy and good

overall health. So yes, you will have more energy! It also has a

role against depression! As far as 5 mg., it's hard to tell you if

it's too low or not. Everyone is so individual, and you will just

have to see how it works on your energy level and symptoms. As far

as labs, your goal is to get your FREE T3 at the top of the range,

generally.

BUT.......if you are hypothyroid, you are missing out on what Armour

can give you. Armour is pig thyroid. It gives you exactly what your

own thyroid would be giving you...T4, T3, T2, T1 and calcitonin. T4

is a storage hormone. T2 has a role in metabolism. T1 is less known.

And calcitonin keeps calcium from leeching from your bones!

Again, Cytomel is great, and you will benefit! At least this Endo

didn't put you on T4-only meds! Hip Hip! :o) But I think it's

important to be fully informed about what you get from another med--

the same thing, plus more!

Did you get a diagnosis from labwork for hypothyroid? What were

those labs, if I may ask?? Symptoms?

I just bite off a bit whenever.nothing scientific. I think someone said to

nibble on it all day long..so I am kind of doing that. I DO know, that the

first day I got some, I really didn't know what I was doing and I took a

whole pill ..25mcg. At 5 pm..my husband took one too...well at midnight we

were still wide awake! But we were feeling good! Now I make sure to get it

in before 3 or so.

* marianne-

how do you disperse it through out the day? every four hours?? just

curious.

I may try and up it a bit and see how I do on say 10 mg and let him know...

Hi, ,

It didn't work for me. But everyone is different. It might work for you. I hope

it does. You'll

probably be increased. And that might be needed before you see a difference.

Hi!

I just had an appt with an endo today(new Doc), and he put me on

cytomel 5mg. I wanted to get everyones experience with it, I think 5

mg seems a bit low, he said he wanted me try it for a month and see

how I do. I am not on any other thyriod drugs, he is testing me for

insulin resistance too. I am hoping this will give me more energy

and help me loose weight, but i am wondering if 5mg is enogh to do

anything.

I see him in 2 weeks to get the rest of my blood work.

any thoughts on the drug or experiences would be greatly

appriciated!

Thx-
