Guest guest
Hi , I had already found that info on it last summer when I was going crazy searching for answers the dr's could not give me and had also questioned this board often too!!!! It is true not many have info on this and many dr's didn't know and wouldn't search it for me. I showed it to many dr's. I fired his pediatrician over this because no one thought the need to do a simple blood count to make sure his wbc was ok. The endo said he'd look into and never did. I found a new ped and she had another dr look into and he found the same info as we did. Therefore she ordered the the cbc, liver and kidney tests on him and all came back fine. So we at least have a baseline for the future if needed. His wbc is always on the low normal range. Also we rechecked it last week and it is now normal at 796, I think it was. Waiting for his igg's to come back as if he still runs low, maybe his body is spending too much time trying to stay healthy even thoughhe had an excellant year health wise, so that really don't make much sense, as you would think he would be sick. IGFBP-1 is insulin growth factor he also did the IGFBP-3 which is insulin-like growth fator binding protein that was 4.35 high normal. What would be " adrenocort " ? adrenocorticotropic hormone - Not sure what it is and how it realtes to the serum cortisol. Just one of the many tests he did as he is usually very thorough and he was very concerned for my son. Back then my son't TSH was 5.35 then he re- tested and then when down to 2.54 now it is over 3. Where I carry both antibodies sometimes I do wonder if he is developing graves, my dad was hyper, he too is very skinny. I wonder if these add meds somehow rob your body of the calcium/mag it needs or prevents absorption for some reason. He was on miralax before but found the cal/mag when in high enough doses did just as well where the dr wanted me to wean him off. I really don't like the fact these meds gave my son tics as he did not have them before but he can not function in a classroom setting with out the meds, I try it yearly. The meds also make both my boys antisocial when on it. Both want to do nothing but stay at home with me and watch tv, very weird. Any way, not the list to complain about his meds on!!!!LOL!!! Sorry. Stomach pain I do believe is a side effect and mylanta usually helps. He eats like a pig at night!!!! thanks for your concern and help!!! The lab was supposed to do his FT4 but for some reason they did not and had to push to get the FT3 done. She said they don't test for that as it is useless, even endos. I did not want to be rude so I kept my mouth shut!!! Next time I won't be so tactful. As I mentioned before, when I call on Wed for his Igg levels, I will big time push for the referral to the endo. If she is not willing I will go behind her back and do the top doc if I can find one or try a natureopath dr. I would have been happier to find his FT4 #'s though. His anxiety does respond well to the l-tyrosine. I do not understand why he would be so low in the T4 when his T3 is so right up there. He must convert well!!! Guest guest
Yes, it looks like he converts well, but the main thyroid hormone that the normal thyroid makes is the T4, and the ratio is approximately 4:1, T4 to T3. The thyroid actualy produces a tiny amt of T3. So, you've really got to wonder why the T4 is so low. Hence, hypothyroidism, too low a thyroid production of T4. This looks very straight forward to me. Time's a wastin'. If this doctor does not understand this now, he/she never will. I'd move him to another doctor now. It's not behind the doctor's back. This is your child, and you're free to take him to who you want. The money part of this I certainly understand, if it is your insurance company holding you to this doctor, but nothing is being done for your child, except to treat him with drugs that bat at symptoms, yet are not solving the problem. I really wish that I had known these things when my children were growing up, I think that many things would have been changed for the future. Re: Help with child treatment/ > > > This IS illness. Guest guest
Your doctor doesn't believe in explaining the test results to you? in Va. nne, Has your doctor explained what this means, the high potassium & sodium, and low calcium & magnesium? I always thought when the potassium was high, the sodium tended to be low etc. There could be more going on than just the adrenals.Maybe the kidneys? I think I saw something about a Vitamin D deficiency with low calcium. I just skimmed over it and thought you might want to read it. LInda in Va. thanks , I printed it out to read later..looks interesting. As far as the doc explaining that.ha.I took the test in to him, and he said I don't believe in that..so I dropped it... I have a top doc appointment for my son next week, and will take it to him to look at. Andy cuttler and DDI labe are the ones who has come up with all these additional meanings from hair tests besides what is shown. He has a book about it that should be out any day now.I can't wait to read it. nne
Guest guest
Well he didn't " order " the test..so he doesn't know anything about it all ..naturally. He is just the pediatrician, and I didn't expect much.. nne Your doctor doesn't believe in explaining the test results to you? in Va. Guest guest
WEll, , I am so happy that you did follow through on the high B12 and found no problem. Oh, I see that adrenocorticotropic hormone is ACTH, the pituitary hormone that calls for cortisol just like TSH calls for thyroid hormones. Well, I hope your son keeps improving. in Va. Guest guest
Gee, , I think I'd have to ask that doctor how could free T3 be useless when it's the hormone that does the actual work in the cell? Guest guest
Than remind the Dr that either you or insurance is paying for the tests and you want her to document that she is refusing run a test that her patient is requesting and that you want a copy for your records and a copy sent to your insurance company.
