When I had a breast lump...they first tried to aspirate it...since it was not fluid filled, they recommended biopsy. Before they did that, they did an ultrasound on it. That is a bit more expensive than the mammo I think...but doesn't put any pressure on the lump like a mammo would. I think women have to speak up for their own health. Tell your doctor how you feel. Ask for an ultrasound instead. i think they actually can tell more that way. Cindi
Guest guest
What you are saying makes sense to me! I don't know why it doesn't make sense to doctors. It wouldn't hurt to ask your doctor if it was OK to do that. in Va. Hi all, This is OT, but don't know where else to go. Maybe I should search for a breast cancer group. Anyway, as I reported earlier, I have found a lump in my left breast, about the size of a large grape. I had an appointment for annual exam the end of August, but doc ordered a mammogram and moved the appointment up to the 5th of Aug. The mammogram is next week. I really don't like mammograms and am having a problem with the doc ordering it before he examines me. I worry that smashing the breast so tightly may irritate the lump. The last thing I want to do is irritate a cancerous lump. I'm thinking just do a biopsy (which is more conclusive) and be done with it. Do I have any faulty reasoning here? BTW, I read in " What Your Doc May Not Tell You About Menopause " some benefits of progesterone cream and estriol cream. I have been using pg regularly and eg sporatically. Thanks and... Guest guest
A mammogram is to screen for impalpable lumps.....not to diagnose what the lump is. Ask for a biopsy NOW, not in a month! I had a fatty tissue lump removed from my shoulder area...and that's also what the one was in my breast (two of them actually). Maybe hypo makes the fat pool into lumps? cindi
