I don't know but if my bg's were in the 200 to 300 range & my

doctor would not rx insulin I'd be looking for another doctor or I would

be kicking & screaming like a banshee!

We are damaging our vital organs EVERY time we allow these kind of

numbers. To allow them to continue week after week is unbelievable.

Thinking about the damage being done every time I want to forget I have

diabetes & eat high carbs is the only thing that keeps me in line. If I

have to end up with any of the terrible complications of diabetes I want

to be able to say to myself that at least I did the very best I could to

prevent them. This means consistently eating a restricted carb diet &

exercising as much I am able (I'm disabled) & allowing special treats

only rarely on very

special occasions. It also means have a proper medication that helps

keep my bg levels at a non-diabetic level.

A doctor needs to work WITH you in this not against you.

Yes...I really don't understand doctors who won't prescribe insulin even

when the patient wants it. I have material in my archives (and I'll be

happy to share it with you, , and you can show your doctor) that

points out the advantage of early insulin use for type 2s - as opposed

to waiting till everything else has been tried and failed. I don't want

to scare you, , but IMHO, you're courting disaster.

There is a Continuing Education Course re prescribing Insulin sooner rather

than later - for diabetes professionals at http://www.cecity.com/ under the

Novo group of programs. There is also one the Analogues (I recently took

this course myself and learnt heaps.)

Some doctors, and nurse educators, dieticians, and other registered health

professionals may be willing to do these courses and be better informed and

more confident about helping us in the future.
