My five year old has begun copying his 11 year old BP sister's " antics " . He is

not suffering from BPD as he able to rationalize through them. For instance,

this AM he started throwing puzzle pieces when he was mad. I told him to throw

all he wants, but he'd be putting the puzzle back together when he was done. The

consequence immediately reached his brain, was processed and he stopped

immediately. She could never do that (even before her symptoms reached the

extreme they are at now).

He also is stomping around the house and telling me he WON'T do things

(non-compliance).

I've explained to him that his sister is sick and he shouldn't do what she does

as he would never want to go to the places she's been to. We are also getting

him into counseling, but it is taking a bit. He also has two other siblings (10

& 13) who model good behavior.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can help him?

Maureen
