First off, I really respect your thoughtfulness in not wanting to commit to something (like mentoring a child) that you feel uncertain about being able to consistently follow through with. I think that shows incredible sensitivity to the impermanence and lack of constancy that so many of these needy kids have had to endure. But now to my "thought," what about checking with your area library about volunterring as a "reader" for the children's area of the library. You might offer an hour each week with the understanding that there may be an occasional week that your helath might interfere with your being able to be there....Mmaybe one of the librarians could pinch hit for you when that happens? It would give you "kid contact" and provide an immeasurable service to the little ones in your community. Barbara And yes, JoAnn....Dawn is a fantastic "best good day helper !!"
