Hi all,

I wanted to add one more bit of information to the MRI issue. Just incase there is ANYONE in this group with Harrington Rods in their back or anywhere else in thier body, please don't EVER go for ANY kind of an MRI. A few years ago, my Doctor here in land wanted me to go for an MRI but, something just told me to check with my Neurologist at Hopkins first because I have two Harrington Rod's in my back. He almost had a stroke. He told me NEVER EVER get a MRI (whether it be open or not. I stupidly asked him why. He was very subtle as these Doctors can be and He simply said, "Do you feel like exploding?" I think he was exaggerating a tiny bit but, lol I got the message. The best test I can have is a CT scan. I can never ever have an MRI. Have a wonderful night all. Sweet dreams, I hope I did not scare you all to death. Sincerely, Dawn

Dawn,

That is a very good point to bring up, I forgot about that. It is actually dangerous for other kinds of metal in your body, you should definitely let them know. Most techs will ask you too before they put you in. Many years back I had screws in my knees and had to have an MRI done. When I told them about the screws they said it should be ok and for the most part it was. But I do remember it felt kind of sick, like it was pulling on the screws. So I could imagine anything more than that would be extremely bad. Thanks for bringing that up!

For me can never have MRI either due to the Pacemaker I have. In fact I could not even stand outside in hall way when the MRI was running. Is that dangerous to a person. Had to leave and go to other hallway to stay away from hall that MRI was in.

s MOmma ........by the way Dawn, do those rods hurt you or do you feel them inside you?

This almost sounds lilke being Pregnant with X-rays, MRI's and Catscans.....they are ALL NO-NO'S!! When I was pregnant with Petey and Sami had to have her foot x-rayed....they wouldn't even let me be in the hallway. But, when I was in the ER with her the night before at a different hospital...they didn't say a thing about being in the hall...just that I couldn't go in the room with her, which I already knew.

Weird...
