Bruce, since 77 when I moved to housto, I have never been bitten by snakes,

scorpions, horned toads, gila monsters or fundamentalists. I have yet to see a

live snake, scorpion, horned toad, gila monster or fundamentalists,,,,,,

whatever insect or animal that may be, dont know.

Re: Millie

Central Texas for the new place.

Close to Texas A & M University. About hour and half to Austin.

Ditto . I'm 70 years old, born and raised in Houston, moved to New Mexico

for about 6 months, then back to Houston. I've lived in Southeast Texas since

1954 and WAS an avid hunter until 10 years ago when a really bad auto accident

ended that. I've seen snakes and other critters but I leave them alone and they

leave me alone. We have beautiful grassy hills and absolutely gorgeous

dogwoods, red buds, wisteria, bluebonnets, Indian paintbrushes, etc., etc. I

can't think of a better place to live while I'm biding my time waiting to go to

Heaven. <smile>

You just need to " come on down " and meet some of these good people and enjoy our

southern hospitality. You would be pleasantly surprised.

Hi Tootie--

I consider myself a Texan. I spent most of my growing up years there.

Every time we moved to a new state we always ended up in Texas. I spent my

last 4 years in Texas in a little town called Canyon Lake. It was beautiful

country. We used to put salt rock out for the deer every night, and we fed

racoons, even saw a bear one time! There's no place I'd rather be than

Texas to be honest. It is a lot more laid back than California is that's

for sure!!

Oh wow! I'm very familiar with Canyon Lake. One of my sons lives at Spicewood,

which is right on Lake . I'm waaaaaay overdue to go spend some time with

him. His feeling are hurt 'cause I haven't been there in such a long time so I

promised him that that would spend 2 weeks with them when my daughter in law

finishes this semester. (She teaches school at Marble Falls.) Now that's a

beautiful place too! I really don't like to go when they're both working and my

grandson is in college at the University of Texas in Austin. Wehn he's not in

school he's studying.

I don't know if he noticed it or not but this year his birthday came on

04/04/04! He was 22.

Hugs,

Tootie
