I'm going to a new GYN tomorrow and need some help.

For those of you that have had hormone testing, was it random day testing, or specific days of your cycle? Can anyone help with which days are best? Don't know. There is some info in archives though and on the web , as I recall.

I want to have tests for yeast and bacteria to make sure that those two things are ruled out, but how can I be sure I'll get the best results from testing? Are there any specific types of yeast or bacteria that are the most prevalent that I should ask to be tested for? Hopefully, someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but you want to culture :

1.) Test For any Candida with an identification of strain, if the culture is positive. You don't want to ask for testing for a specific candida, because that's all they'll try to grow and then if you had some other strain that is grown longer or in a different medium - your out of luck. So, be tested for candida with identification of strain.

and:

http://www.mdlab.com/test-reqfrm2.html Top left of this one gives an idea what are some tests for determining gyn problems .

Can anybody think of any other type of testing I should ask for? If anyone has any advice... I'm all ears....

Thanks so much,

I just went for blood work on my hormones. The script was written, and my gyno specifically told me, to make sure I got the hormone blood work done on Day 26 of my cycle, with 1st day of period counting as Day 1.

Honestly I really don't know. You might call the office back and simply ask them about it. Or you might ask the clinic who will be doing the blood work if this is the wrong time to be checking your hormones. I would call the office back and express your concern/question. It doesn't seem that mid-cycle (ovulation time) is the time to be checking hormone levels, but I would think the endocrinologist would know when to check. Sorry, I just don't know for sure.Jenifer Farias wrote:

I just went to the endrocrinologist yesterday and I am going to have blood work on my hormones checked tomorrow. I am only on day 12 of my cylce, which probably means I am ovulating. He didn't ask me when I had my period last though??? Should I have them checked at this time? I also have similar problem with no sign of bacteira or yeast in the last 6 months, but I still have a lot of symptoms, white thick discharge and vaginal dryness. This is why I went to the endo to check my hormones. What do you think about the day I am having them checked?kbrbon wrote:
