Does anyone know what is in a saline drip solution they put in an IV for when

you have surgery? The nurse told me there is sugar in it. Is that true?

Would they really inject a bag of sugar into a diabetic?

Thanks for all responses.

A client came in to the office today and heard me talking with my co-worker.

She said her daughter is a nurse and called the daughter and asked her. The

nurse said that there are 2 types of IVs; one is straight saline solution to

keep you hydrated and the other is saline d5 (or something, I wrote it down and

left it in the office) and that one has dextrcose (sugar) in it. I have

ordered my records from the procedure so I will have to wait and see what they

did to me.

Yes, thank you. I should have made them show me the bag before I even let

them stick something in my arm. Part of me is too trusting and the other part

is too skeptical.

I thought a saline soultion was salt.

I thought so too but I guess some have additives. They must have given me

one with sugar cause when I tested before bed my don't eat or drink all day, 2

saltine crackers to settle my stomach from the surgery, my blood sugar was a

whopping 278!
