Guest guest
I had a medical procedure done yesterday which was an out patient surgery. My scheduled appointment was at 3:00 p.m. I had a meal about 6:00 a.m. and took my meds per the doctor's order. I was really getting shaky and experiencing a fast heart beat so I told the check-in nurse and asked if they had a machine to test my blood. I told her it might be that I am having anxiety but it may be low blood sugar. This was at 3:20 p.m. She went in back and told the nurse how I was feeling. She came out and said I was next. In fact, the back room nurse came out and took one person before me. Be that as it may, when they finally took me back I was by now complaining because it was 45 minutes AFTER my scheduled time. The nurse put an IV in me and then told me she got some blood when she stuck me so she tested it and it is 107. I never saw the machine. My question is: Is this a place where blood can be tested from? The IV went into the same place they always stick me for a blood draw. Thanks for all input. a

The nurses would get blood using the porta-cath, including checking for diabetes. hugs Eunice
