If I have a heart attack or stroke, I'll be dead and that will be the end of all

my troubles; I'd be with my Mother and my Grandmother and my other departed

loved ones. Blindness, kidney failure, or amputation are things that I'd have

to live on with.

Cardiovascular Disease, the Leading Diabetes-Related Killer,

Is One of the Least

Talk to a loved one who has diabetes about what concerns them most

about their disease and chances are you will hear " going

blind, " " kidney failure, " or " losing a foot. " These are all serious

health problems, but the most deadly complication of all -

cardiovascular disease - rarely makes it to the top of their list of

concerns.

Not true. I'm a survivor of a hemorrhagic stroke. That is the worst kind you can

have.

And was fortunate to have very little effects from it. So you could in theory

survive the stroke or heart attack.

My late mother had a stroke and was dead before she hit the floor; I

don't think she quite knew what hit her. The same thing happend with my

grandfather, except in his case it was a heart attack.
