The side effects that I had were horriable muscle cramps in the legs, feet, arms

and hands. Your heart is a muscle if you have cramps stop them at once. Helen

side effects cholesterol lowering drugs?Re: Question

Hi-

I was just wondering what side effect cholesterol lowering drugs

might cause. I looked up Lipitor and saw that depression is a side

effect. That kind of freaked me out.

I am *extremely* prone to depression. Granted, I am on Effexor XR, but I

noticed no increase in depression when I added the Lipitor. Not saying it

couldn't happen, but I haven't noticed it.

I was on Lipitor for about 4 years. I was also on Prolisec for acid

reflux. When I told my doctor my reflux and other digestion problems

were worse, she took me off Lipitor, saying she had seen other

patients have the same problem even though they had been on Lipitor

for some time. My problems quickly stopped, to the point where I no

longer have to take Prilosec. At the same time I went low-carb. My

cholersterol is now: LDL (desirable range <130) is 124, and HDL

desirable range >40) is 87.

Hope this helps,

Barbara in Cambridge

the possible side affects is muscle pain. The drug pamphlet that the

drug store gives you when you pick up your prescription mentions this

as a possible side affect, and says you should contact your doctor

immediately if it happens. I don't know what the muscle pain means

(circulation problem maybe from the drug?) but sounds somewhat

serious if they say to contact your doctor right away. I don't know

how often this problem happens but it's good to know what to possibly

expect so we can act accordingly,
