Guest guest
Thank you all for your quick responses - you have helped me become so much more informed in such a short time! I will try all the supplements you recommend and I think I will even give the boric acid a shot if I can find it. About the caprylic acid, is that taken orally or also inserted into the vagina? I am drinking Danactive religiously, so grateful that it actually tastes good! At my next appointment this week, I willl ask my doctor to culture the sample to find out what type of yeast strain it is. I am curious, Tiger - how did you find it was an allergy, not an infection? And then if it is an allergy does the removal of the offending cream do the trick? Am I to understand, though, that this will not go away for months or even years and might even become worse?? That really scares me. My infection usually clears up with my period only to begin a few days after my period is over and then persists throughout the month.... Thank you all SO much for all the info and please keep it coming. I am grasping at straws - I am sure you can relate to the feeling, Sylvie Re: New member - please help In a message dated 10/17/04 2:57:38 PM, VulvarDisorders writes:<< 1) Boric acid inserted into vagina2) Orally taking echinacea 3) Garlic supplements4) Vinegar douches5) Threelac6) Acidophillus pills7) Drinking danactive >>Hi Sylvie,Some of those things help women with yeast problems. The boric acid, acidophillus pills and Danactive are probably the most helpful. The question though is whether you have a recurring yeast infection. Have you at some point used a topical yeast medication like Monistat? If you did, did you feel worse after it? It maybe that you don't have an yeast infection at all but have had an allergic reaction to a topical yeast medication that has graduated to vestibulitis (vvs). For the most part, it doesn't usually appear to be the culprit. But it's worth having your husband treated just to be sure.DebbieTiger"(Tiger! Change your .sig! Simple rule: No. Br|_|ce. Guest guest
Hi Sylvie, Yes he can reinfect you Have him wash his penis with tea tree oil and tee tree oil soap, Also have him garggle his whole mouth with tea tree oil (dont swallow it though) That will kill any yeast of yours he may be carrying. In terms of your list...garlic supplements are really good and of course acidophullis. The *best* think you can do though in my experience is to change your diet drastically, i.e., no sugar, no wheat, no alcohol, nothing fermented and very healthy proteins and vegetables, rice and potatoes are ok, yogurt is great (i'm sure you know the deal) Personally boric acid sounds extreme, i tried it once and it burned the hell out of me but i'm very sensitive so I opt not to put anything down there... maybe plain yogurt. I had to do the diet with the garlic and probiotics for a month and it went away butI kept it up for a long time. big change in my life, now I have to go back on it. good luck, keep us posted, Dana P.S. drink tons of water.
