HI Tami & all,

Believe me I know the confusion and like Lynn said and I agree, that traditionally estrogen usually is thought to perhaps increase ones chances or risk for yeast, and it may be so for some people, but I just don't think it's that common as a 'cause' of yeast, (but that's me' *grin*) Just remember to massage it in. ;) Also when they mention HRT as a possible 'risk' for yeast,we have to remember that's also 'with' the addition of a progestin.

I just read two very 'excellent' articles this morning, (of course I copied and highlighted all kinds of interesting points from it for myself, and would be tempted to send it in full except they're both so long). They're from an excellent web site (bio-med central) that I'm going to pass on to the list. They both are very long as I said, but I've rarely read a more thorough account for both the benefits of Estrogen & the problems with yeast infections.

This one is marvelous with it's telling of the benefits of estrogen for the vagina, vulva, urethra, UTI's, bladder, incontinence, etc.etc. ...Also even tho it may mention menopause at times, be aware of how estrogen works for all of us. it's at:

http://www.biomedcentral.com/1534-5874/2/305 (you may have to sign up)

And the other one is excellent as well and it's all about YEAST.. including all of the resistant ones, the overuse of yeast meds may lead to those resistant types, it covers antibiotics & the meds to use and esp. those who are repeatedly plagued with yeast, And yes they too will mention estrogen as a possible cause but there is so much more there. It's at:

http://www.biomedcentral.com/1534-5874/1/31

By the way, both are the full articles and not just the abstracts.

Take your time reading them (they're both very long) but well worth it. I personally thought they were GREAT. ;)

One thing I read was that too often an irritant dermatitis is 'thought' to be yeast returning, but it's often a secondary issue and is overlooked or thought that the yeast is back, the the yeast meds excoriate even more when it wasn't yeast again and perhaps that's what you had since you had a negative test for yeast.

Hope that helps and if it were 'me' I'd use the E cream a little more often than the once a week, simply for faster restoration as long as it's not irritating me. (and massage it in) Plus using the E topically rarely has any systemic absorption so it shouldn't cause you to be more sensitive or crying... but then.... like all things we may react differently. Sure wishing you the best hon and hope things improve for you soon.

Dee~
