Guest guest
Greetings it's from San , Texas: Thanks to all my buddies for the support you have given me throughout this crazy ordeal. I had the decompression surgery on 12-21-00. Stayed in the ICU for 5 days. I am home now recovering from this difficult procedure. Everyday it seems to be improving. Return for 1 month follow-up on the 26th of January. My doctor, Bogaev here in San , has been absolutely wonderful. Come to find out my Chiari Malformation Type 1 was an acquired defect, unlike most which are congenital. My shunt caused the Chiari. Dr. Bogaev said my case is only the second he has treated where the Chiari was acquired. Pretty interesting ordeal if I do say so myself. I had the shunt placed in 1997 for Pseudotumor Cerebri with revision of shunt in January 1998, and was fine up until 14 months ago started having severe headaches, amongst other symptoms of the Chiari as well. MRI's revealed a severe Chiari 1 Malformation clear as day. My shunt has been pulling off way too much CSF allowing the cerebellum and the tonsils to slip down to below C1 and C2. Dr. Bogaev said surgery is the only way to fix the problem or course saying all along there are no guarantee's, but we are hoping for the best. Everything seems to be progressing very well. He's hoping I will begin to feel like my old self in 1-3 months. Thanks to all of you for your prayers and support. Hope everyones holidays were good. I got to come home Christmas day and celebrate with my loving and very supportive family. It was such a good day. My love and support goes out to all of you who emailed me with comments, questions, and support. I will keep you posted as to my progress. Love to all of you and God Bless. Would love to here from all of you soon. Any questions call on me anytime, I will be glad to help in anyway I can. Bye for now. Sincerely, Beavers San , Texas Sincerely, _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com
