I was diagnosed last March (on my birthday of all days). Just keep up the good work, and be sure to ask lots of questions and weigh out the information you get. Guest guest
Yes, he put me on 4 meds. Glucopage 2xs a day, Prinivil 1x a day and Lovastatin 1x a day with one baby asprin a day. The last few weeks my blood pressure shot up and I have never had blood pressure problems. He says the Diabetes is doing it. I am already feeling a bit better. I have had a awful time with being really warm and sweating the last month or so. Just awful! I am someone who is always cold and I did not need a coat during a snowstorm LOL that is how bad it was. Since I have started the med's it is almost gone. And thanks for the diet. I might have thanked you already my memory at times can be off. Looks great Oregon New Hi All, I am new to the group. Just joined a few days ago and wanted to send in my into. My name is and I was told on Monday that I have Diabetes type 2. I am a little stunned but not suprised since most people on my moms side have type 1 or 2. I am just pretty confused. Do to a job change we have new insurance. This was the first time with my new Doctor and I was not impressed. He pretty much told me I have Diabetes, gave me some scripts, told me to take a class thru the clinic and sent me on my way! I have learned the meter ok and have been doing the blood testing 4 times a day. They are still high of course running between 200 and 250. I stepped up my walking to 6 times a day from the 3. I need to loose 35lbs so, I have started that. What alerted me to the Diabetes was a chronic yeast infection ( sorry Guys;-) The doctor says it will not clear up until the sugars get under control. Any idea's how to treat it until then? Just keep using the Fungal cream full time? Any idea's where to get a good list of food exchanges? Yesterday I drank a half of cup of OJ and the sugars went up 50 points and that was an ok on my list for a food exchange that I have in a book my dh gave me to read. I understand from reading that different foods will do different things to people and you just have to watch it and record it. I am a bit nervous of course. I lost two friends to Diabetes last year both young moms in their 30s. They were type 1 and passed in their sleep. I look forward to the list. I might be quiet at times very busy and it is my son's basketball season which keeps us moving. Is it part of this one? Can anyone just jump in? Hi Cecilia, Welcome to the group. The weight loss commitment is part of this group. Last year we had some members that felt they would do better at losing weight if they set a goal each month and posted their weight loss. We have members that join every month. I have added your name to the list. Pls send me your weight loss goal for the month of March. Eunice
