Hi Bruce,

You and I may not always agree on potatoes, LOL, but I agree with the above

sentence 150%.

I remember back almost 9 years ago (when I had cancer), I guess I was kind of

feeling sorry for myself one morning. Just as I started to cry, the phone

rang. It was an old friend that I had not heard from in several years. She

knew I had cancer and was thinking of me that morning and felt she needed to

call

me. Well, we laughed and talked for about an hour. When we hung up the

phone, I was no longer feeling sorry for myself. I was bubbling with joy,

energy,

positive attitude and felt I was on top of the world.

Another time, that God was on my side, was when my oncologist changed my

chemo. He told me that it would probably make me sick. My reply to him, was,

I'll just have to pray harder. He said, " that will work " . It did. I got very

weak, but never sick even with the amount of chemo I was taking. I know that

faith in God and a positive attitude works for me.

Eunice and Bruce, I know we agree to disagree on something's but I am completely

with you on this. I don't know why God chose to take my son at 43 but there

must have been a reason, he was the finest man I have ever known and he left us

with his 3 girls to cherish. They need me and my son needs me to be here for

them. It is not for me to ask WHY, it is in faith I carry on. I hope we do not

have to leave GOD out of this list like we are having to put him out of the

schools and things. Helen

Oh, Helen, what a heartbreak! But as a non-Christian, I believe it

is my right to question God. Abraham challenged God,

challenged God, Moses and Job and Jonah and... Sometimes having a

fight with God is good for the spirit. Lets us get rid of things we

need to get rid of. Some of us cannot meekly say, " Oh, ok, take all

my most precious things away from me and may I have another, Sir? "

Psychiatrists call depression anger which has been turned inward

instead of outward. Well, who better to express my anger toward?

God can't take it? If someone's husband leaves, the diabetes is

making them blind and facing kidney failure, or someone's child is

taken, I'd certainly not be surprised to hear them expressing their

mind to God about it. We aren't sheep, we are intelligent beings

with a divine spark, and I don't believe that it's healthier if we

behave like sheep.

I didn't hear anyone (including myself) saying that anyone shouldn't

express what helps them. Only that it shouldn't be expressed in a

way which makes another feel bad for not doing the same. I

personally find great strength and satisfaction in my own religion.

Now that I think of it, I suppose we're both recommending turning to

God. I just think it's ok to turn and give God a fight now and

then, along with the praise. 8-)
