Guest guest
I'm just wondering what kind of nutritional supplements, vitamins, etc. everyone uses. I went to a workshop tonight given by a nurse-practitioner on detoxification of the body and building up our immune systems. She had a lot of very good information, much of which I've seen here over the time I've been here. I'm slowly making changes in my way of eating, and drinking water and herbal tea instead of diet soda. I'm starting my 3rd week of exercise this week, and now I'm sure I need vitamins. The information I received at this workshop broke down into these areas of things that are important, water was definitely first, the others are in no particular order: 1. Water. My body needs water each day equivalent to half my body weight in ounces. For me that is currently 250/2 or 125 ounces of water. As Deb put it, yes, that's a lot, but that is what my body needs, and drinking it will help me lose weight. She also told us that back before municipal water systems, water was more commonly alkaline, with a pH of around 9, and that it is healthier to drink clean (filtered) water that has been treated with something to increase its pH. I started using something she told me about a couple of weeks ago called " cell food " that I got at a health food store. It seemed a little expensive for a small bottle, but the bottle treats 22 quarts of water for $24.95. It adds minerals and definitely makes the water taste a lot better. As a result of my water tasting good, it has been easy for me to start drinking a lot of it and to stop drinking soda. I'm actually preferring the water now, and carrying the little bottle of stuff with me to put in water that I get in restaurants. 2. Antioxidants. Vitamin C, Vitamin E and Alpha Lipoic Acid 3. Amino Acids. Found in protein. 4. Liver support. Tumeric, Lecithin, Milk thistle/Silymarin 5. Bowel support. Probiotics, digestive enzymes. 6. Nutrition for all organs & systems. Vitamins - preferably organic whole plant concentrates with phytonutrients. 7. Omega 3 and Omega 6 Essential Fatty Acids. I'm wondering what, if any, of these things people on the list here are taking, and if you are taking supplements, do you feel like they help?
