Guest guest
That is the one I use and it is very easy.. Helen newly diagnosed, need glucometer My name is , I am 33, and was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, on Friday. My doctor started me on Avandia, and wants me to get a glucometer to test my sugar levels. I went to Wal-Mart looking, and just got more confused by all the meters out there. Does anyone have a suggestion as to which one is better/less painful/more reliable? My doc reccomends the Ultra One touch. Thanks for any input. I was dianosed nearly a year ago and it has been quite a learning curve..for me, my wife and my family. Guest guest
Thanks Bruce. I hadn't even thought that insuance might not cover some brands, so I called, and what do you know? The Ultra one touch is their " preferred " meter and cover the most for the meter and the strips. Made that decision a little easier. They will give me 80% of the meter back, and 1 month of strips is $15, no discount on the lances. The other meter I was looking at was the Freestyle, and my insurance would have given me back 80% on the meter, but the strips were $30 for a month's supply. Thanks again. PS Great news. My first test was a reading of 158. One week ago the glucose level was at 299. > Have you insurance? I bought a meter, but was then told that my insurance wouldn't pay for supplies for that brand, but for another, which they would provide at no cost. (I ended up giving my old one to the local charity clinic.) I'd check with your insurance to see which one THEY will pay for. > > If you haven't insurance, or if your insurance won't cover, remember to save all your receipts for tax time, as they may be deductable. > > newly diagnosed, need glucometer > > > My name is , I am 33, and was diagnosed with Type 2 > diabetes, on Friday. Guest guest
Neale- Thanks for the info. The Ultra One touch is the meter I purchased. I was so excited when I got the results, I called my husband, my doctor and my diabetes nurse with the results...158, and last Wed. in the doc's office it was 299. BTW, my hubby is from Alberta. We drove through BC (absolutely beautiful)to Vancouver a few years ago before he moved to the states. > > My name is , I am 33, and was diagnosed with Type 2 > > diabetes, on Friday.
