" In Saudi Arabia, as a woman, diabetes is probably the least of your

problems. You're lucky you found a doctor who would see you! Not hard

to understand how you got to be obese, living in a country where a

woman isn't allowed outside unless wearing a tent and the temperature

is always 110. And you aren't allowed to drive. "

Okay... sigh...

Belittling another culture in this forum is inappropriate. As a

person who loved living in the Mideast AND as a Muslim woman who

observes Islamic standard of dress, I obviously found these comments

particularly offensive.

Let's all remember that the members of this list are not only

Americans or those with an America-centric worldview (as evident by

the recent UK vs US healthcare system debate). It's a list for people

seeking support and information about diabetes. I hope we keep it

that way.

For : in spite of this, you've joined the right list. Welcome!

You'll learn just about everything you need to know about how to

manage diabetes from the members of this list. Post any particular

questions you may have.

And now, I'm off to the animal shelter to hopefully adopt the newest

member of the family. No offense dog people, but there is nothing

cuter than a baby kitten - I hope they have the one for me! :)

Peace

Jacki
