Your doctor could save you some money by doing a few panel test and not all

seperate like that.

My endo test the following:

Every 3 months : HGBA!C.

2 times a year : Lipid panel

CMP this test has :

glucose , bun (urea nitrogen Kidney test) ,

CO2, creatinine (Kidney test)

Ast,Alt ,Bili T, Bili D (all 4 liver test) total

protien. albumin . May be another but i can not remember it is late.

1 time a year : Urinemicroalbumin ( kidneys )

1 time a year : c-peptide (a sub unit of insulin )

1 time a year : 24 hours urine for creatinine and protien ( kidneys)

You could talk to your doctor and ask if they run the panels or how he orders

them. It all depends on how he/she wants it.

Hope this has helped out a little.

Good luck Kim F.

Dear All,

I get following tests done for Diabetes at every three months interval ( Apart

from day to day monitoring of BG )

1) BG - Fasting and PP ( Just to see difference between Lab and Meter readings )

2) Urine - For sugar + Ketones

3) GHb

4) Microalbumin test

5) Lipid Profile - To check LDL , HDL , Total Cholesterol , Triglycerides

6) Urea , Creatinine , Uric Acid - Once in six Months

7) Homocystine and Lipoprotein (a) - To see CHD risk - Done only once.

8) Liver Function test + Kidney function test - Once in a year.

I have following questions

1) Are above tests and it's frequency OK ?

2) Is there any test advisable other than above.

3) Any other suggestion from Group members ?

Regards,

Anil

I would think it would depend on your individual issues. For

example, I had abnormal liver function and am taking an oral med to

control diabetes which might cause abnormal liver function. So, my

doc runs a full liver fuction test every three months. Some also do

a quarterly A1C, but Eunice and others have stated they only get a

yearly test.
