Hi Annie,

My doctor wrote my prescription for " test twice a day " . Since the strips

come in boxes of 25, I get 200 strips for 3 months.

On script for test strips my Dr put ( " brand " test strips) test 6to 8 times

per day. My co-pay with my insurance (United Health Care Washington Mutual

EBP) is the same for 100 or 300 strips. Perhaps your Dr. could write the

script for a 3 month supply and use the mail order service for your

insurance?

prescriptions?

Does your doctor actually use a number of strips or a box? Same with

insulin, the number of units for 30 days or a vial? The reason I ask is

that my doctor is using a number of boxes and a vial, not how much I'm using

a month. I use more than a box and more than a vial a month and the co-pays

are killing me.

I would think he should be writing something like " test 6 times a day " and a

prescription for 180 strips. It IS a problem with insulin because it will

vary, but a $30 co-pay every 10 days is nasty, so how does your doctor (if

you use insulin) write the prescription?

Your doctor will write

your prescription for the number of strips you need.

Our insurance requires us to use mail order. I order supplies every 3

months. Our insurance pays 80%.
