I wonder if this is the same pain inhibitor that Jerry got

implanted in him. I remember him talking about it one year on the

MDA telethon. He was telling how they used it on MD patients so the

doctors implanted one in him and it was helping with his back pain

immensly. I guess all those years of prat falls got to him and

ruined his back.

Has anyone ever heard of this? the results?

area and a wire is connected to the vagus nerve in your neck.

Impulses are sent for 30 seconds in every five minutes continuously.

There is information online about it, but my doctor discovered that

it hasn't been tested a lot and only a small percentage of people in

the study found relief. I am almost desperate enough to try

anything, I'll tell ya. I just don't know what else to do for this

pain.

Hi Norene

Where exactly is the pain your trying to relieve with this implant.

Sounds awfully intrusive to the body for my liking. Who came up with this

idea?

Make sure you do some research on it Hon...before making up your mind.

Surgery is surgery and that in itself can send you into a flare.

It may be great ...I don't know but you are doing the right thing by asking

around for anyone who has had it or heard of it.

Take care my friend

write and tell me how you are soon PLEASE

Several of my clients have the Vagus Nerve Stimulator implanted to

control seizure activity, this is the first I've heard of it used for

pain management....very interesting :)

I have never heard of it being used for anything other than sieuzres (but then

we all know that many things end up having other uses). I worked with a young

lady who had one. The way a VNS works is that when symptoms appear (a seizure),

a magnet is swiped over the VNS to stop the seizures from happening. It works

for some people and does nothing for others. As with anything it also has a

lifespan although I do not know exactly how long that is.
