Hi Dennis Good hearing from you. Sorry the treetment didn't work out for you. I know the side afects of treetment are tough. If it works it is worth it but in your case, it would seem like a waste of time & money. How is your retirement going, still enjoying it? Hi Jan,

Long time no talk. :)

As a dog person, many puppies experience this and it normally happens when the vet gives to many vaccines at once. Like the rabies should be given alone. Norvitus sent out this information over 3 years ago to vets to be cautious with puppies and not combining vaccines in one visit. I have seen many dogs have allergic reation to the new vaccines out there, that started about 4 years ago.

Did your puppy get 2 differents shots? Not being harsh here, but didn't your vet give you a handout on possible side effects to look for.

Lynne, the pain

How is everyone doing? Ok I hope..I dunno if I told yall about me getting another puppy a cpuple of months ago..Anyway I brought him for his second round of shots and he had an allergic reaction to it and I almost lost him..The Vet said it is very rare but does happen sometimes..So PLEASE if ya have a puppy and when you bringhim or her for their shots don't leave them home alone for a while after getting the vaccine..I was lucky I stayed home with him cause he would have died..I was so scared..

Other than that how is everyone doing? I am ok except for the usual aches and pains due to OLD AGE!! LOL..I hope everyone has a great year!!

Hi Jan , Glad the pups ok . Vaccine reactions happin with kids alot too so you may want to watch them as well. I am having a blast . The hcv woes have been out of my life since mid 2003 . Thought i would relive some memories from 20 years ago so i picked up a 250 cc 60 hp motocross bike and went riding with some of my old friends . What a blast i felt 20 again until the next morning when i felt more pain then my worst day on tx but it was worth it. It should be gone in a few days and i can go the coming weekend weather permitting . Wont hurt as bad the next morning either . I couldnt believe how much fun it was and how out of shape i am for that kinda recreaction, i thought i was in pretty good shape but i guess not to throw around

60 hp and 220 lbs at 40 and 50 mph through the ruff terrain of the off road.

My friend says your mind can float back to 20 but your body says no . Really its been 20 years since i had anywhere near that kinda of joy. I would have went riding the next day but my body said no . I hope by the weekend it says yes. Aww man gettin older really suc_ ks but you can still have some real fun even tho it may hurt a little. I can only say ,FFFFFFF . Glad your ok you had me worried .

The first time Tanner tried to say " I love you " was weeks after we

starting the EFAs as is written in the book The LCP Solution. (read

third story, " apraxia " on this page

http://www.drstordy.com/stories.html )

Below are some actual emails from 1999 about Tanner -and in one of

them I talk about his attempts to say " I love you " for the first time!

Subject:

Thanks for the talking kids page!

Date:

Wed, 10 Mar 1999 11:03:00 -0500

From:

& Glenn <shop-in-service@...>

To:

pressone@...

Hi ,

Our 2 3/4 year old son Tanner was diagnosed yesterday with apraxia.

However, as I'm sure you are well aware, we have been dealing with

his

non speech for much longer. (You may have read my e-mail about

Tanner.) Tanner looks like a cherub-strangers say that all the

time.

So we call him " the cherub boy " .

It was wonderful to hear your adorable sons, and the other children

speak. It really does help. At this point our son sounds the most

like

when the father says " 1, 2, 3, a, b, c, " . Without much

prompting

he is non verbal. Also, most of the time, when my husband and I

try

to ask Tanner questions where he would have to try to answer, my

older

son, who is four, talks for him. Like your son, Tanner looks and

acts

normal. Actually outside of expressive speech, Tanner tests on every

other area above average. This was unfortunately the reason our

pediatrician was never concerned. We had to push to get his hearing

and

speech evaluation.

If you could tell us some background on your son it would be

appreciated. When did he first get diagnosed? How many days of

therapy

a week does he receive? When did you see the greatest improvement?

Like Tanner, was there a time he didn't really talk? What is " pure

apraxia " ? Even though he is a perfect weight now, I have been

concerned with the way he sometimes shoves large amounts of food in

his

mouth. Is apraxia a rare condition? I've spent the morning trying

to

find a local support group where I could receive the answers to some

of

these questions. Even Tanner's speech therapist said there is not

much

known about it because it is pretty rare. I did find a world wide

support group for apraxia in Greenbay Wisconsin called MUMS with 20

to

40 members.

Well again, thanks for putting the talking kids page together. Let

me

know what you need, and my husband and I can send you a tape and

picture

of Tanner.

Best,

Michele sorry. Fortunately we do have a celebrity who publically

announced that she has a child diagnosed with apraxia -Toni Braxton.

Unfortunately she only acknowledges that her son has autism and

this is what she had to say about the apraxia diagnosis:

" We took him to the doctors, the developmental pediatricians, and

they said oh, he has something called apraxia, which is a fancy label

for a speech delay. "

http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0703/25/lkl.01.html

If it wasn't a misdiagnosis; one thing for sure - Toni too will learn

that apraxia is not just a fancy word for speech delay.

(We all wish right?!)

Sheri: I too have a little boy who is four and is not talking, he has a few

words but not many. The hard thing is he understands everything you say. He

has great speech therapists and they have said he has all of the things that

are important for speech, good comprehension, can imitate, can make sounds.

Has your son been diagnosed with apraxia??? My son has PDD NOS and apraxia.

I too long for the day when says I love you. I have heard that it is

never too late and these children sometimes start talking as late as 6,7,9

years old. I know just how you feel, I always want someone to reassure me too.

Good luck.

I have heard that The Listening Program was used for stroke victims.

As for hope, there is plenty of it, on this board and all around us.

So much hope. There is no deadline for him to talk though the sooner

you hear those sweet words the better. Janice has some good stories

from NACD that inspire me daily. You and your son can do this! Hang

in there and never, ever give up. I say this on a pretty bad day in

our house but I so know it is true. Keep reading and asking

questions. It is a huge deal when you realize how far he has come

already and the fact that he gets all that you are saying.

One thing to keep in mind ... I've been through three of these

surgeries. Each time I've been able to begin taking slow walks the very

next day. That should help to the blood sugar down. I screwed up and

didn't drink enough water - that should help as well. I know stress

causes the levels to rise ... but I wasn't diagnosed with Diabetes until

a few years after my last surgery.

May things continue to go well.

I just wanted to say that everyone who has replied to my " friendship request "

that I appreciate it. I will be honest and let you all know that I'm horrible

about keeping up with posts and it's nothing personal. I do a good bit of

chatting on messenger though. So, if anyone wants to chat and I haven't

answered you on here, just IM me (southernangell)if you can.

Thanks :)

Hi I haven't been by in awhile really have no news to report until now. Not that

it has anything to do with the HEP C but I need to let it out. Last Sat. I went

for a routine mammogram and I was told if it's nothing I will get a letter in

the mail saying the results are negative. If it's something I will get a phone

call. TO MY SURPRISE and as soon as I saw the phone number I knew exactly who

was calling and why. They found something on my breast and want me back in for

an ultrasound and after the more detailed mammo they feel they are right they

will do a biopsy right there and then. My mother had breast cancer in both

breast one at age 28 and then 5yrs ago. I crumbled and I'm a basket case, not to

mention I still have appts to deal with the HEP C. I'm in a bit of better

spirits right now after a long tearful scared of the unknown day. My head hurts

and my stomach has been sick all day but it's calmed a bit now. I just pray

this is not Gods plan for me and if it is I'm trying to be tough and I guess

after the initial shock wears off I will fight it head on. Thanks for listening!

mention I still have appts to deal with the HEP C.

Thanks Deb, my wonderful fiance missed their call yesterday, they called me this

slot has been filled I go on Wed. the 14th. Cross your fingers it's nothing! :)

feel stupid for asking but I don't know all the places to get info yet, other

than here. Maybe if I read it in the morning it will make more since to me.

Goodnight to all.
