Guest guest
, No, the opposite, theory roughly is that alkalinity allows conditions such as, parasites, candida, etc, to thrive, leads to a 'leaky gut', which in turn causes malabsorption of essential vitamins, nutrients etc, in turn leading to neuro (and other bodily) disturbances and can therefore be one of the main causes for otherwise idiopathic seizures. Keto diet increases acidity, and 's Mother believes it is the change to acidity, rather than actual ketosis that 'cured' her child. These gut conditions cannot survive in a completely acidic environment. Makes quite a lot of sense to me, realise it is not the complete theory behind the diet's success in some, but it seems especially relevant if the child showed previous digestive issues, allergies, malabsorption etc before the seizures started. is one of these, where previous changes in diet (gluten free etc) always showed some improvement, but it was like it 'wasn't enough' of a diet change, and we've never quite 'cracked it'. He had heaps of candida nappy rashes as a baby, still has the 'pot belly', has persistently raised eosiphinal (SP?) blood (allergy and parasite marker) levels, and like I think I've mentioned before, blood tests while an inpatient during bad seizure periods have showed his bloods coming back as alkaline, rather than acidic. He also has this appearence of being 'anaemic', even though iron tests etc come back negative. It's like he is given every nutrient he needs, but they are just not 'getting through' to where they should. We are trying to work towards both, not taking off the diet or anything, but curious to try out some of her recommendations. You can still maintain ketosis ( I think, hope!) while slowly working towards the food types she recommends. Food for thought (ha ha!). Hill in NZ PS ; Yeah for and Brownie Camp - that is just so 'normal', must be an awesome feeling. ----- Original Message ----- > richard & susan hill wrote: > > > , > > Did you read the theory behind ''s Diet' relating to > > acidity/alkalinity? > > > > I read about 's diet when I first joined the ketolist, that was a > few years ago, so I don't really remember specifics.
