THis is the exact amont of carbs that peter pan's no sugar added, no salt

added peanut butter is. ITs all yellow with yellow cap too. ITs the only one I

eat, as the others are too sweet. THe reduced fat peantu butters are too sweet

too as they addd sugar to them as they use less peanuts. The one you are

talking of is good, I tried it. It has splenda in it but also hydrogenation

oils. scudders does not have any added oils, just peanuts and salt. It

comes in the see through jar, with peanut oil seperation on top. THought I find

this to be too salty and gets to hard by the time you get near the bottom.

Peanut butter is a great example of why it's so important to read

labels. If you look at the well known brands, they all have about 6-

9 grams of carbs per serving (usually 2 tablepsoons), then you can

deduct fiber, usually 2 grams per serving. The difference between

carb options and the other brands is so small as to be unnoticeable.

The carb options brand, if you look at the ingredients list, has lots

of other stuff in it besides peanuts. It even says on the label that

it's 60% peanuts. The others are much purer, though all those brands

tend to have hydrogenated oils which are universally bad.

The price of carb options is much higher than the others too.

Labels are very important!!!!!! All those salad dressings and

sauces - compare them to the regular versions and compare the prices!

Krogers has this too, and I've used it and like it.

Oh, and we all know that the FDA is a completely objective and

above-board organization, not in the least influenced by the food

industry, and that their pronouncements are to be accepted as from Mt.

Sinai.

Re: Re: peanut butter

Even the FDA doesn't agree with the " Net " idea--and they do not approve

of companies putting it on their labels.

I agree. I try to buy the food that is most like actual food. LOL. Stuff

I can identify, name, recognize. Things my body was made to digest and

utilize. I tend to do a lot of shopping at Trader Joe's, and even then I

read labels. I even check nutritionals before I eat out. It's really

just plain scary what's in fast food - besides calories, fat, sugar.

People wouldn't eat there as much if they really knew what was in it. I

think that's why we stick our head in the sand. It's a lot of work to

eat healthy, but it's so worth it.
