Guest guest Posted June 13, 2006 Report Posted June 13, 2006 Hi Folks, Just thought I'd chime in about TMJ and FM and Migraines/Headaches. I suffer from daily head pain- originating at the back of my neck typically and it will wrap around to my face/eye areas. I clench my teeth (been doing this since I was little), chew gum and have the stiff/locked jaw- which are associated with TMJ. I also loose hearing in my ear(s) if I've been on the phone and/or talked/laughed for a period of time. HOWEVER, I do not have TMJ- I have FM which they are finding that the pains and symptoms associated with TMJ is not TMJ but rather the same muscle issues we go thru with FM. They are finding this thru studies and I am treating my jaw muscles like I treat my FM and it is helping with my TMJ-like symptoms. Just thought I'd say this because going the TMJ route is a really, really expensive way to find out if you have a jaw bone issue rather than a continuation of FM. I'm not saying those with FM and TMJ symptoms don't have TMJ- I'm just suggesting folks try the FM treatments for this area of the body first prior to spending all that money to test for TMJ. Best wishes! Quote
