Guest guest
Way to go, ! I can certainly relate to your trials. I have tried every diet around at least twice and have not been successful. UNTIL I was diagnosed. Now I am just counting calories, fats, carbs and proteins the old fashioned way and have lost 28 pounds. I have been eating this way for almost 3 months now. I also added exercise (you know it's true what they say about exercise!) and feel better, my bs are lower and I my knees don't hurt anymore. When I decided to start eating sensible, I started losing weight and it has stayed off. I eat almost anything I want, but in moderation. If I eat more carbs than I think I should, I go for a walk. That takes care of my bg's, blood pressure and stress. hugs Eunice

Hi , There is only one way to know if it will work or not and that is by trying. I think you are smart trying different ways of eating, different foods, etc. hugs Eunice

I have the knowledge and control now so that if the numbers start creeping the wrong way I can make adjustments quickly. I'm testing again quite often, like I was when I first started Somersizing. I don't feel like a failure, because I'm not going BACK TO my old way of life, I'm moving forward to something healthier. Today was great. Because of TOM my morning numbers were still high, so I skipped the shredded wheat I was going to have for breakfast. Did my exercise. I know it's not very French, but dinner was pizza, thin crust, ate two pieces w/ additional toppings very slowly. Then I had an assortment of nibbles - little bit of celery w/ cream cheese, green olives & cream cheese, one babybel cheese, and two prunes. Washed that down with very strong decaf coffee w/ cream, Splenda, and a dash of cinnamon. I was in heaven! Two hours after dinner and my BG just tested at 110!!! <doing the happy dance> It took me about an hour and a half to small bite my way through all the food. I loved having such different flavors, and I haven't had coffee, even decaf, for over a month! It was so satisfying and yummy. According to Fitday I had 1346 calories, 91 grams of fat, 67 grams of carbs, 14 of which was fiber, and 70 grams of protein. Definitely need to pump up the fiber a bit. Protein shake w/ strawberries sounds good for tomorrow breakie. I have an appointment with my Endocrinologist. Last time he saw me I was fasting 170+, weighed 330, and he put me on Metformin. I've gone from an average BG of 173 the end of June, to 117 this last week. I will have to tell him I'm not taking the Metformin. I'll report after that appointment. Thanks again for the words of encouragement! -- Long live the melt!
