When I first started losing weight, I started drinking several cups of hot green tea during the day. I think that helped me to lose weight. I'm still drinking several cups of green, black and/or herbal tea throughout the day and until I go to bed at night. Walking is one of the best exercises. If you don't have time to take a 30 minute walk, you can do 3 ten minute walks, start parking your car as far away from the entrance of stores, walk up steps instead of elevator when possible. hugs Eunice Eunice

Bev- I saw a segment last week on the late news about this game, and it is being recommened to parents who have teenagers who are inactive, as a way to motivate them to get some physical activity. Looks like fun!! To bad I live on the second floor of an apartment building- my downstairs neighbors would probably report to the management office for making too much noise (the thumping sounds as I clumsily dance, yikes) gail

Guest guest
How about riding a bicycle? Transportation and exercise in one. (Whenever I'm about to go on an errand, I ask myself if I could do it on my bike; if I can, I do. Sometimes my car doesn't go out of the garage for days on end.) I looked at the scale and OH MY!!! I am looking for a good type of exercise and a way to boost my metabolism, anyone have suggestions? I have cut out " fast food " from my diet, except for Subway. Help!!! Transportation and exercise in one. Hi Bruce, I've started riding a bike again after many, many years. We have a lovely bike trail near here that I have been riding on. Today I went 12 miles. Whoo Hoo! My problem is that I don't feel comfortable enough yet to ride where there are cars. Guess that will come with time. The life I love is packing donkeys with my friends And I can't wait to get on the trail again.
Guest guest
Walking, swimming or anything that is going to get your heartbeat up for at LEAST 20 min every other day or so. If you cant do walking or things like that swing your arms in large circles, or use a " pedal " machine that uses your arms. Just be sure to get the heart rate up. I do my cardio for at least 30 min, sometimes more, 3 times a week at the gym, then working in the garden, or swimming in our pool, or other farm chores the rest of the week. I also do strength training, as the more muscle your body has, the faster it will burn calories. It is also good for your bones, as it strengthens them, so there is less risk of osteoporosis later on. The main rule of thumb, is that you must put out more energy than you are taking in. May want to check how many calories are in a sandwich at subway? I try to keep my intake below 1500 calories a day. There are days when I go over, but I don't sweat it. Also eating every few hours, 5-6 times a day is good. helps to keep blood sugar even as well as boost metabolism. Also remember that you need to talk with your dr before starting any exercise program. Find a good Chart for how high your heart rate needs to go, Online.
