Guest guest
Insulin is not a cure (or excuse for) overeating. Is the headaches caused by the over eating or do they just come on at night? And how often? Can you get an blood glucose meter? If so, start testing your readings after meals. Check about one hour and two hours after. Which ever set of readings (try a week or two) is higher, then test at that time and not the lower time. People are different. Try to start a food diary or something. Or at least think about what you eat. So if you can pick out which foods cause a higher reading and try to stay away from them. A lot of suspect foods include anything with wheat or flour or pastas and starches. Bread, spaghetti, potatoes, oatmeal, etc. See if they cause your sugars to rise or not. People are different. Start checking nutritional labels. Look for things that are low carb. This also varies by person. Some people try for less than 50 carbs, others try for less than 500 and some for less then 1200, or whatever. Try to figure out what you are doing now and then try to cut down a little. If you eat a certain brand of breakfast cereal, then check the label and then check the labels of other brands and try to find one that has less carbs, even if a little less. Also, check the carb to sugar ratio. If its 30g carb and 2g sugars, that is usually better than 20 carbs and 15 sugars. The first case is about 7% of carbs from sugar and the second case is about 75 percent of carbs from sugars. Most veggies are ok. Fruit varies. People differ. Check out bananas, oranges and apples. See what they do to your sugars. Do you have any favourite foods? Any guilty pleasures? Something you binge on? Check those. Usually they are bad for you, but sometimes they may not be. I used to love eating tons of frozen (cooked) spinach. Nutritional labels are usually a trade off between sugars (carbs), fats and salt (sodium). Usually one of those three are high. A lot of diabetics tend to have high blood pressure (salt) are be over weight (fats). Salts can be found in many places you are not aware of. Look at the sodium content of diet sodas and even milk. Remember that most low- or non-fat foods are high in sugar and most of the low or no-sugar foods are high in fat. This may sound like a lot, but it isn't really. These are just some basic things to start getting used to. You'll find that once you start you'll be amazed at what you learn and how easy it starts to become. - - - - - Lokrin (TechAss) Technical Assailant http://lokrin.net - - - - --- Outgoing male is certified Virus Free.
