Guest guest
I just got the bad news last Friday. Type II diabetes. My absolute angel of a wife and I have been rapidly coming up to speed on what to do. We've both been very stressed out over it. I can see why you're all sharing what music you relax to. Anyway, I just wanted to say HI.
Guest guest
Thanks, Melody. I am signed up for the class, it's next Tuesday, and one thing I'll say for my HMO is that they DO NOT MESS AROUND with this disease. But when the news first broke, my stress was so high, that I thought I was dying of diabetes on the spot. Even now, every backache or headache I get makes me worried and nervous. I have to tell a funny story though - I am NOT a blood person. I am THE MOST SQUEAMISH person I know. It took me 45 minutes to poke myself the first time last saturday, I think I sweated out half my blood sugar just trying to make myself do it. My poor wife was there, and I think my nurse was past the end of her shift before I got done. It's still not easy for me, it still takes me a minute or so to work up the strength to push the " stab me " button. The most encouraging thing I have heard is over the past few days calling my friends, and having them tell me about all the people they have in their families that live into their 80's and 90's with this disease. Now, you can turn that bad news into good news. Once you get over the initial shock of being diagnosed, find out the food plan that works for you, you will soon find yourself a much healthier person. Being diagnosed with diabetes was a blessing for me. I lost weight, went off of meds for BP and meds for diabetes. I have lots of energy, I'm healthy, I'm happy.
