Tru Confessions

TV Movie

Based on the award-winning book of the same name, TRU CONFESSIONS is

the story of high school freshman Trudy " Tru " who aspires to have her

own television show. To enter a cable TV contest for teens, one that awards

a TV hosting job, she produces a documentary about her twin brother, Eddie,

a boy with a developmental disability. Although Tru loves her twin dearly,

she is often frustrated with him and invariably feels guilty that she is a

typical young teen but Eddie is not. Worse yet, she can't seem to discuss

her feelings with her parents (Mare Winningham and McGuire), who she

perceives as detached. The filmmaking process becomes a perfect outlet for

Tru to express herself and discover a greater appreciation for Eddie. The

finished product also helps her father come to terms with his son's

disability and, ultimately, brings the family closer together.
