Guest guest
I am a bit overweight (could stand to lose 20 pounds) but this started a long time ago, when I wasn't. > > Just wondering how many of us are overweight...>>
Guest guest
I think it is beccause our metabolisms change with the Fibro/CFS so therefore our weights change. I know that I have gained a lot of weight in 3 years since the onset of the CFS. I am trying to lose another 12 lbs but we'll see. I have lost 2 pounds in 3 weeks. rowahordge@... wrote: > From: rowahordge@... > > Just wondering how many of us are overweight...l am but have lost about 50 > lbs in the last 5 months....and l am feeling much better..l can even sit at > the puter for a longer time now...l am just trying to figure out if this is a > condition of overwieght people or anyone...thanks geri > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ > GET A NEXTCARD VISA, in 30 seconds! Guest guest
Hi I am at least 50 - 75 lbs over weight but I feel that is more genetic as my entire family has a weight problem. I do feel that the fact we do not feel like eating properly and hurt too much to do much exercising.I know that there have been many days when I crawled out bed and ate whatever I could find easily as I felt horrible. My three daughters are of normal weight and they all have FMS . ALso the meds often contribute to our weight gain . I know Amitriptiline certainly does and I have been on that fro 7 years. Good to see you posting. Hugs > >

So, I am not sure how or why it picked me, but I guess the best thing that we can all do is just be thankful that we can wake up for one more day :-) Shirlie

Guest guest
I am overweight, female, 237 lbs. on a 5'6 " large-boned frame. I'm also very strong and muscular though. I've always been battling overweight. Sometimes I have weighed as " little " as 150 lbs. (when I was a teenager and thought this was obese!) and as an adult have got down to 165 lbs. which actually looks thin on me for some reason. I think I have very heavy bones too. I've been up to 265 at a time when I was still able to work and exercise. Weight issues have been very frustrating for me. For now I am just accepting my body as it is, and focusing my energies on getting treatment for CFS, being kind to myself, not trying to push myself to exercise which only makes my symptoms worse, or to diet which only makes me feel even more deprived of the pleasures of life which I must forgo, including exercise which I love! I remember during the times that I lost large amounts of weight that I did feel much better. Its hard to tell which comes first though, feeling better and thus more healthfully active, or losing the weight and then feeling the relief of having less poundage to carry around. I used to aim for middle of the insurance tables weight recommendations as my goal ideal weight, but now I ignore them entirely. I will be happy when I am healthy enough to exercise again, and I will exercise for fun and endorphin release. Whatever weight my body feels and performs best at will be fine with me. When I first reached the weight of 180 lbs. when I was in my twenties I felt bloated, ungainly and uncomfortable. The last time I got down to 180 lbs. I felt slim, graceful and strong. I think we can be healthy at a wide range of weights, and can be as unhealthy at a low weight as at a high one. So my goal now is to get healthy and ignore the numbers. I hope to keep my strong bones and muscles. I sure wouldn't trade them for a lower number on the scale! Guest guest
I have a problem maintaining my weight. I have always had this problem. I currently am 5'4 " and weigh 118 lbs. I gained 23 pounds after have my appendix removed about a year ago. At age 18 I weighed 85 lbs. If I miss one meal I can loose 8 lbs. in one day. I do fill like I have more energy since I have gained the extra weight though. Personally I feel that weight really is not a factor in FM, except for the fact that some people most likely will put on weight if they are not able to do much. I know of many people with FM and they are all shapes and sizes as Shirlie has said. Just my story and my thoughts! Hope each of you had a good day today! Guest guest
i don't know, I think being overwight is part of the disease and not the other way around. I used to be underweight and had low blood pressure. I used to ski, skate, do aerobics and then work out for about an hour after that. I used to cook from scratch. Now I'm lucky to walk for 20 minutes. I spend lots of time at the gym but mostly sitting in the hot tubs and steam room. And cooking... If I'm lucky I cook one good meal a week, the rest of the time it's left overs and anything that can be nuked in 5 minutes or less. And slimfast comes in real handy. ~~ ~~ " We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are. "

Guest guest
Well, I'm overweight, too, though I am currently on Dr. Atkins diet, taking vitamins, etc. Not much weight loss, but feeling better. However, as I mentioned before (I believe), in 1985 I underwent stomach stapling under the insistance of my doctors, who assured me that all my " aches and pains " would magically disappear. Well, they didn't; and furthermore, as my weight dropped, my blood pressure went up. Prior to the surgery, my blood pressure was always 90/54 (this at 250 lbs); when I reached my all-time low weight loss (150) it had gone up to 145/100. As the weight started to go back up, my blood pressure starting dropping!! The doctors didn't even want to talk about it, much less respond to questions I had. (Now, at 56 years of age and 50 lbs overweight, my blood pressure is 110/70.) A few years ago when I attended a local support group, I did notice that about 70-80% of the people in attendance -- male and female -- were overweight to some degree or another. Maybe because of the limited ability to remain active???? Jeanne PS Need referrals for your " earn-cash " programs? Guest guest
That does seem to be the answer(your overweight) to most of the drs. I am a nurse and they pay less attention to me. I think it*s just a thing with the drs. because they don*t have any answer to our problem. carolyn
