Guest guest
Hi Jayne, Its a smart move to seek another allergist. I have been to one just last year and I was told of several food allergies. They don't always cause your throat to swell. Another reaction is irritable bowel. I react terribly to peanuts, pineapple & eggs. Theres more but they are too numerous to mention. I can't get the flu shot because of my sensivity to eggs, plus latex. I didn't know that some syringes (spellings off ?) have latex rings in them , therefore I have to be careful when getting injections. I can sympathisize with you. Allergies suck. I have epipens all around the house in case I get a severe reaction. Good luck!!, Donna S.
Guest guest
Food allergies can cause fatigue, IBS, rashes, a lot of stuff. I couldn't believe my " normal " allergists reaction to my wanting food allergies done. I definitely have a lot of sensitivities but my stomach and bowels are functioning too horrible to just be IBS. I ate two strawberry generic pop tarts and was sick to my stomach in less than a half hour. There's gotta be something more to it. I hope tomorrow's appointment goes well. I need to find out everything that I'm allergic to. I'm sick of the guessing. It's bad enough having to wait out medications to see what I'm allergic too. And those have been some doozies! Guest guest
I want to tell you following my gluten free diet has changed my life. My IBS and bloating has diminished greatly. Also, I don't think I was absorbing any of the vitamins I was taking... because of the constant intestinal distress. You have to be very strict with a gluten free diet. I lost a ton of weight as well. My nerve pain has lessened and I am sleeping a bit better at night. Joint pain is less.... Guest guest
lots of soups and salads baked potatos w/ fake sour cream (Tofutti Sour Supreme is the ONLY kind that tastes good) Lots of meat! Pork, Chicken, beef, fish fruits. Rice bowls. I DO eat pasta. there is one brand of gluten free pasta that actually tastes good. It is called Tinkyada. I once made a gluten-dairy free biscuits and gravy. It was pretty damned good. You tend to get creative when you are desperate.... Thai/Indonesian recipes are perfect for gluten free... as long as you watch for soy sauce They do make a gluten free Soy sauce though most Thai recipes do not have soy in them... unless it is some americanized version Re: Allergist> I just got back from the allergist. Guest guest
no.... I just have always loved cooking. So now I cook without using wheat, rye, barley and oats. There are tons of websites out there that help with gluten free lifestyles. Also, it is not uncommon for more than one member to be feeling bad atthe same time when it comes to flares and b/c of that potentially takesomething another member says the wrong way. And that includes the thingsthat one member may find funny (even if it's laughing at fibro itself) eventhough we who deal with illness whether one such as fibro or multipleillnesses! try to keep a sense of humor.>> 5. Guest guest
Amen! Gluten intolerance is responcible for a heck of alot of peoples IBS symptoms(and some of those who seem to have lactose issues). You never will know unless you simply do a elimination diet. For me the sensitivity is to wheat, rye and oats. I used to have problems with lactose until I stopped eating gluten. Apparently gluten can cause the body to react to lactose also. deb
Guest guest
I will find those links.... Just so that everyone knows.... only those with a diagnosed gluten intolerance/celiac disease need to follow this diet. It is very extreme thing to do with the American diet and people need their grains. Just some of us can't handle the gluten.... Re: Re: Allergist rewa, I'd like some more info on the gluten free diet. I have horrible IBS with bloating, cramps, etc. More info please???? Thanks, Sandy ----- Original I want to tell youfollowing my gluten free diet has changed my life. My IBS and bloating hasdiminished greatly. Also, I don't think I was absorbing any of the vitaminsI was taking... because of the constant intestinal distress. You have to be very strict with a gluten free diet. I lost a ton of weightas well. My nerve pain has lessened and I am sleeping a bit better atnight. Joint pain is less....I am even considering weaning of my pain meds....rewa
