Guest guest Posted January 2, 2001 Report Share Posted January 2, 2001 Hi All, I was just trying to catch up on some of the my email's.I was reading were someone couldn't get NY medicaid to pay for their childs Co Q 10. I live in Kentucky and here we have a program called Early Periodic Screening, Diagnosis,and Treatment Program, (EPSDT).This will pay for anything not covered by medicaid. I have no idea if all states have such a program,but if I wanted to check I would call the state department for medicaid services,I would not even bother asking the local office. I had never heard of this program and had we not gotten a letter about it, I still wouldn't.When I called our local office to ask about it(after recieving the letter) I was told they did not know what I was talking about.I then called the state office,they could not believe the local office didn't know. I personaly think the local office doesn't want to know about all these programs,less paper work you know. could have had medicaid coverage at least 2 or 3 years ago,IF our local office had known about the waiver program for home health.If I had not found out about this at a doctors office she still wouldn't be covered.The waiver has been available since 1989, was the second child in our county to recieve it.The other child also heard about it from the same doctors office.This was also something the state office couldn't believe. I'm sorry this is so long,but if REALLY makes me mad,there are so many programs out there,if SOMEONE would just be kind enough, or concerned enough, or even if they would just DO their job and tell us about them!!!!!
